Lately, I have been looking into buying a car and the prospect scares me. I want to have a car manufactured by a company that I can trust with my family and my life in the case of a Maryland car accident. After issues with the accelerator last year, I wanted to stay away from Toyota and all related brands. A trial in the works and a massive recall does not inspire confidence and actually makes me reconsider all of their makes and models.
One of the car manufacturers that I actually closely considered was Chevrolet. I thought I would feel really comfortable with getting a Chevrolet vehicle. However, my good feeling about Chevrolet was short lived when I realized that they are also in the process of a massive recall. Sometime between late April and early May this year, Chevrolet had to recall the Cruze because there was an issue in the steering column that caused the steering wheel to fall off.
When I first read about this recall, the images of the toy cars I used to buy my son flashed in my head. I remember wheels and parts falling off and snapping them back on. I felt like a vehicle that is capable of driving over a 100 miles an hour should be just a bit more durable than my son's toys. To Chevrolet's credit, there was no reported injury as a result of this malfunction.
Driving has never been an activity for the faint of heart. Cars are powerful and move very quickly. I would at least like to think that my car is very well made and could provide me with some element of protection. I would hate to think I risked my life every time I got behind the wheel of my car. I have always done my research to make sure that when I do decide to purchase a vehicle I have every confidence in what I am driving and the company that put it together. If you or your family has been injured by any vehicle that was subject to a recall, it is important to talk to a Maryland injury attorney that can determine who is liable for your injuries and get you the compensation you deserve.
